"Growers of Quality Camellia Japonicas, Camellia Sasanquas & Related Camellia Hybrids & Camellia Species Since 1970" |
" A Little Nursery History" Glenn Read Camellia Nursery has changed a lot in the years since its beginning in 1970. The first plants Glenn ever propagated were Camellias. Other plant material came and went but, every year Camellias were always grown and their numbers and varieties multiplied. Eventually it became evident that Camellias deserved to be first in line and they became and still are the only plants we grow. New friends in the Camellia world increased yearly and through them contacts were made in many states and overseas. These new contacts resulted in obtaining and introducing new varieties for the nursery. As this still continues today, including new introductions being hybridized at our nursery, we are planting new stock plots often so there can be something new and different available for our customers as well as tried and true standards. The nursery has now grown to thirty acres involved in the production and sales of Camellias. Hundreds of varieties of Camellia Japonicas, Camellia Sasanquas, Camellia Vernalis, Camellia Hiemalis, Camellia Hybrids and Camellia Species are produced yearly in saleable containers ranging from Three gallon to twenty-five (30gal) gallon with every plant sold tagged and guaranteed true to name. While we know we can never be everything to everybody we will make every attempt to help you with your Camellia needs. Thank you for the past, present, and future business with our nursery.
